The Studio Guild expanded in 2010, and so did its Wind Power consumption. We used 22,162 kilowatt-hours from wind farms. That’s 152 metric tons of carbon dioxide that is not in the atmosphere. Which offsets the greenhouse gas of 22.7 cars, or 15,542 gallons of gasoline, or 322 barrels of oil, or the carbon sequestered by 29.54 acres of fir forest.

Studio Guild Wind Power certificate
The Studio Guild has been powered by 100% renewable, local wind energy for about two years now. But for the first time, Con Edison Solutions sent us a “Wind Power Certificate” that actually details our power from 2008.
If you can’t read the photo, it says, “In satisfaction of your 2008 purchase of WIND Power, this certificate verifies that clean, emission-free electricity in the amount shown above (6,192 kilowatt hours) was produced and delivered to the electric grid on behalf of Studio Guild LLC.”
So, in other words, the Studio Guild itself wasn’t directly hooked up to a wind farm upstate. But, the total energy we took out of the grid was equal to the amount we paid upstate wind farmers to put into the grid.
It’s a start!
